Saturday May 1, 2010. Heritage trail - Mountain bike ride

Ride Organiser: Robert Hind Robert@robert-hind.com
Organisers mobile tel: 0417 934 502
Ride style: Social
Ride type: Mountain Bike - non technical
Terrain: Steady Climb then Good descent
Estimated Distance: 45kms
Start Time: 8:30am
Start Point: Pechey Park (Car Park at the top of Morrison Road)

We'll do the easy mountain bike ride on the Heritage Trail. We'll take the track North of Great Eastern Highway up to Sawyers Valley. This a fairly easy, steady climb. Then we'll cross the highway and return on the side with a stop at Darlington for coffee / food. The return is mainly downhill and in parts quite fast.

For those of you who haven't done much mountain bike riding this is an excellent way to get accustomed to MTB rides. I'm not very confident off road (some might say I'm not that good on road either!!) but this is an enjoyable, non intimidating ride.

Monday April 26 - Anzac Day hills ride

Ride Organiser: Paul Kittlerpjkittler@iinet.net.au
Organisers mobile tel: 0418 936 852
Ride style: Social
Ride type: Road
Terrain: Hills
Estimated Distance: 70-75 km loop from Narrows
Start Place: Narrows - South Side
Start Time: 7:00 am

I'm thinking of an early start, so the start would be at Narrows South at 7:00 am
Navigate past Burswood, through Rivervale and on to Maida Vale, then up Kalamunda Road. See the first attached link. www.mapmyride.com

Once in Kalamunda, there is an optional 19km loop down Canning Road towards Pickering brook, then back via Piesse Brook and up the hill to Kalamunda again. See the second link. www.mapmyride.com

After re-fuelling in Kalamunda, it's down Kalamunda Road at warp speed and retrace our steps back to South Perth.

Total distance would be 70-75km from the Narrows with a flat start, a flat finish and hills in the middle.

Saturday April 24 - Riverton Road / Point Walter Loop

This week's ride is the Riverton Road/Point Walter loop, starting and finishing at the Narrows (South Side). We'll also have a usual meet at Maylands at 8:00 am and ride to the Narrows for the main ride.

The first half, past Curtin Uni and along Riverton Road is mostly flat. After that, there are a few modest hills until we reach the river again near Point Walter. Then it's onto familiar roads and cycle paths back to Canning Bridge and up the cycleway to the finish at the Narrows.

Coffee stop will probably be in Applecross
